Veterinary facility hygiene — zoonotic & cross-infection control

Free Veterinary Clinic Cleaning Log

A veterinary cleaning log records the cleaning and disinfection of exam rooms, surgery, kennels, runs and isolation — the written proof that a documented hygiene routine is actually being followed between patients. Generate a free printable veterinary clinic cleaning log in 30 seconds: add your practice name and area, then print it or save as a PDF.

Why Keep a Veterinary Cleaning Log

A veterinary practice moves sick animals, healthy animals and people through the same rooms all day. The log is what turns "we clean between patients" into something you can show.

Parvo Does Not Die Easily

Canine parvovirus is a non-enveloped virus that survives on surfaces for months and is not reliably killed by alcohols or ordinary quaternary disinfectants. Recording the product, DIN and contact time proves the right disinfectant was used — not just that something was wiped.

Isolation Has to Be Separate

Isolation needs its own cleaning equipment, its own order of work and its own record. Logging isolation cleans separately is how you show the ward was not being serviced with the same mop as the healthy wards.

Zoonotic Risk Is Staff Risk

Ringworm, leptospirosis, salmonella, campylobacter and giardia all move from animal to person through the environment. A documented routine protects your team, not only your patients.

Inspection & Accreditation

The College of Veterinarians of Ontario sets minimum standards for accredited facilities, including cleanliness and sanitation. A current signed log is the simplest evidence that the routine is real and continuous.

Want the cleaning and the records handled for you? Our veterinary clinic cleaning service disinfects exam rooms, surgery, kennels and isolation with DIN-registered products at the correct contact time, and leaves a signed cleaning log after every visit. No lock-in contract.

Veterinary Cleaning Log — FAQ

Is there a free printable veterinary cleaning log?

Yes. This page generates a free, printable veterinary clinic cleaning log you can customize with your practice name and the room or ward, then print or save as a PDF. Print one per room, have staff initial after each clean, and keep the completed sheets on file. Just enter your email to unlock the sheet.

What should a veterinary cleaning log record?

For each clean: the date and time, the room or ward, the task (between patients, surgery terminal clean, kennels, isolation), who did it, the product and DIN used, the contact time observed, and notes. The contact time column matters more in a veterinary setting than almost anywhere else, because the pathogens that survive longest are the ones that need the full wet time to be killed.

What disinfectant kills parvovirus?

Canine parvovirus is a non-enveloped virus and is far harder to kill than enveloped viruses. Alcohols and many ordinary quaternary ammonium products are not reliable against it. Practices typically use a product with a demonstrated non-enveloped or parvocidal claim — commonly accelerated hydrogen peroxide or an appropriately diluted bleach solution — on a surface that has been physically cleaned first, left wet for the full contact time on the label. Always follow the manufacturer's directions and your practice's own protocol; check the product's Health Canada DIN and its label claims rather than assuming.

How often should a veterinary clinic be cleaned?

Exam tables and high-touch surfaces are typically disinfected between every patient, exam rooms turned over after each appointment, kennels and runs cleaned at least daily and after each occupant, surgery given a terminal clean after the last procedure, and isolation handled on its own schedule with dedicated equipment. Reception and waiting areas need frequent attention because that is where sick and healthy animals meet. The log lets you record whatever routine your practice sets and show it was followed.

Does the College of Veterinarians of Ontario require cleaning records?

The College of Veterinarians of Ontario accredits veterinary facilities in the province and its minimum standards address cleanliness and sanitation. This template is a record-keeping aid designed to make that routine easy to evidence — it is not a statement of what the College requires. Confirm current requirements directly with the CVO and against your own facility's accreditation category.

Can our cleaning company keep these records for us?

Yes. A contractor working in a veterinary setting should clean to a set protocol, use DIN-registered products at the correct contact time, keep isolation equipment separate, and leave signed logs after each visit. Zusashi's veterinary clinic cleaning service does exactly that, so the documentation exists whether the cleaning is done by your team or outsourced.
