A physiotherapy cleaning log records the treatment plinths, the gym floor, the shared exercise equipment and the modality heads — the surfaces patients lie on and grip all day. Generate a free printable physiotherapy clinic cleaning log in 30 seconds: add your clinic name and area, then print it or save as a PDF.
Takes 30 seconds. Print one per treatment area or per gym zone, initial after each clean, and keep the completed sheets on file.

A physio clinic has more shared, skin-contact surfaces than almost any other outpatient setting. Very few of them get logged.
Patients lie face-down on the same vinyl, breathing through the same face hole, often with bare skin. Paper covers the middle and nothing else. Recording the plinth turnover per bed is the single most useful line in a physio log.
Bikes, pulleys, resistance bands, therapy balls, mats and gait aids get handled all day and belong to no particular room, so they fall between the treatment staff and the cleaners. Give them their own line and the gap closes.
Ultrasound heads, TENS electrodes and laser probes are applied directly to skin, sometimes broken skin, and then applied to the next patient. They need cleaning between every use with a product compatible with the device — check the manufacturer's instructions before choosing a disinfectant.
The College's Infection Control Standard, effective 1 February 2025, requires physiotherapists to document and retain details of reprocessing and sterilization of reusable critical and semi-critical equipment, including the parameters used. That is a record-keeping obligation in the Standard itself, not an inference from it.
A warm, wet reservoir is an environment. Hydrocollator tanks need draining and cleaning on a schedule, covers laundered between patients, and both need recording — because "we do it regularly" is not a date.
Want the cleaning and the records handled for you? Our physiotherapy clinic cleaning service covers treatment areas, the exercise gym and washrooms with DIN-registered products at the correct contact time, and leaves a signed log after every visit. No lock-in contract.

For each clean: the date and time, the area or item, the task (plinth turnover, exercise equipment, modality heads, hydrotherapy, end of day), who did it, the product and its Health Canada DIN, the contact time observed, and initials. In a physio setting the item matters as much as the room, because the highest-risk surfaces — plinths, electrodes, ultrasound heads, mats — move between patients rather than staying in one place.
Physically clean the vinyl first, then disinfect with a Health Canada DIN-registered product left wet for the full contact time on its label, paying attention to the face hole and its surround, the head-piece hinge and the edges where hands grip. Paper covers reduce soiling but do not replace disinfection, because they do not cover the whole surface and patients touch the sides. Check the plinth manufacturer's guidance before choosing a product — some disinfectants degrade upholstery.
High-touch contact points — handles, grips, seats, bike saddles, pulley bars — after each patient uses them, at minimum. Mats, therapy balls and props are direct skin-contact items and should be disinfected between patients rather than at the end of the day. Bands and soft goods that cannot be disinfected properly are usually best issued to the patient to keep. The log lets you record whichever standard your clinic sets.
The College publishes an Infection Control Standard, effective 1 February 2025, which requires physiotherapists to comply with current IPAC best practices in line with Public Health Ontario's PIDAC recommendations. Among its performance expectations, three bear directly on this log: the physiotherapist "ensures all physiotherapy spaces and equipment are cleaned and disinfected prior to patient use"; follows manufacturer specifications and Public Health Ontario standards for cleaning, disinfection and reprocessing of equipment; and documents and retains details of reprocessing and sterilization of reusable critical and semi-critical medical equipment, including the parameters used. The Standard also expects a Point of Care Risk Assessment before every patient interaction. The College does not run a routine cleaning inspection of every clinic — the Standard is enforced through complaints and investigations, through your local public health unit under the Health Protection and Promotion Act, and through your own self-audit. Read the current Standard on the College's website rather than relying on this summary.
Yes. A contractor working in a physiotherapy clinic should clean to a written protocol, use DIN-registered products at the correct contact time, understand which items the clinical team cleans and which the cleaners do, and leave signed logs after each visit. The boundary matters here more than in most settings — modality heads and electrodes are usually the therapist's responsibility, while plinth surfaces, the gym floor and washrooms are the cleaner's. Write the split down.
