Tables, linens & face cradles — RMT clinic hygiene records

Free Massage Therapy Cleaning Log

A massage therapy cleaning log records the table, the face cradle, the bolsters and the linen change between every client, along with the product used and how long it stayed wet. Why Keep a Massage Therapy Cleaning Log

Massage is sustained, whole-body skin contact on a surface the next client will also lie on. Almost nothing in the room is not shared.

The Face Cradle Is the One That Gets Missed

Clients breathe into it for an hour, face down, often with the nose and mouth in direct contact. A fresh cover is not the same as a cleaned cradle — the vinyl underneath and the adjustment arms need disinfecting too, and that is the line most logs do not have.

Linen Handling Is Half the Problem

Used linens should go straight into a covered hamper without being shaken out, clean linens should be stored covered and away from used, and hands should be washed between handling one and the other. Recording the change per client is what makes the routine auditable.

Do Not Double-Dip the Lotion

Reaching back into a communal tub or jar with a used hand contaminates the whole container for every client after. Pump bottles, single-use portions or a decanted working amount are the fix, and the container exterior still needs wiping — it gets handled with oiled hands all day.

Turnaround Time Is the Real Constraint

Fifteen minutes between clients has to cover the table, the cradle, the bolsters, the linens, the door handles and your hands. A written routine with the contact time built in is what stops the disinfectant being wiped dry before it has worked.

Want the daily and deep cleaning handled for you so your turnaround time goes back to treating clients? Our clinic cleaning service covers treatment rooms, reception and washrooms with DIN-registered products at the correct contact time, and leaves a signed log after every visit. No lock-in contract.

Massage Therapy Cleaning Log — FAQ

Is there a free printable massage therapy cleaning log?

Yes. This page generates a free, printable massage therapy clinic cleaning log you can customize with your clinic name and treatment room, then print or save as a PDF. Print one per room, initial after each client, and keep the completed sheets on file. Just enter your email to unlock the sheet.

What should a massage therapy cleaning log record?

For each client turnover: the date and time, the room, the task, who did it, the product and its Health Canada DIN, the contact time observed, and whether the linens were changed. The linen column matters because it is the one item a client can see was or was not done, and the one most likely to be raised if a concern is ever made.

How do you clean a massage table between clients?

Remove and bag the used linens without shaking them, physically clean the vinyl, then disinfect the table surface, face cradle, cradle arms, bolsters and any adjustment levers with a Health Canada DIN-registered product left wet for the full contact time on its label. Wash your hands, then make the table up with fresh linens from covered storage. Check the table manufacturer's guidance first — some disinfectants crack or discolour upholstery over time.

Do RMTs in Ontario need cleaning records?

The College of Massage Therapists of Ontario regulates registered massage therapists and sets standards of practice covering hygiene and infection prevention and control. It does not run a routine cleaning inspection of every clinic. Environmental cleaning is examined when a complaint is investigated, when a local public health unit acts under the Health Protection and Promotion Act, or when you audit your own practice. Keeping a log is how you evidence a routine in any of those situations. This template is a record-keeping aid, not a statement of what the College requires — confirm your obligations with CMTO directly.

What disinfectant is appropriate for a massage clinic?

A product carrying a Health Canada Drug Identification Number (DIN), used at the dilution and wet contact time on its label, and compatible with the surface. Surfaces must be physically cleaned before disinfection, because massage oils and lotions leave a residue that blocks the disinfectant from reaching the surface. That residue problem is more pronounced in a massage room than in most clinical settings, so the cleaning step is not optional.

Can a cleaning company do this for our clinic?

The between-client turnover is the therapist's — it happens inside the appointment gap and nobody else is in the room. What a contractor genuinely takes off you is the rest: floors, washrooms, reception, laundry areas, high-touch surfaces and the scheduled deep clean, all documented. Zusashi provides clinic cleaning across the GTA with a signed log after every visit, so your own log only has to cover the turnovers.
